TAG Heuer: The Official Watch of Porsche City Index Carrera Cup Australia

Perfect timing for TAG Heuer and Carrera Australia.

TAG Heuer is proud to continue its long standing association with Porsche Australia again partnering as the Official Watch of Porsche Carrera Cup Australia 2013.

The Porsche Carrera Cup concluded a sensational 2013 season on the Gold Coast in October with Craig Baird and Max Twigg sealing the 2013 titles.

Baird continued his incredible form securing his fifth Porsche Carrera Cup Australia crown and his 11th Porsche one-make-series title from Percat and Luff.

Twigg accumulated the highest number of points for the elite class to be awarded the TAG Heuer Grand Carrera RS2 Calibre 17 Chronograph as the winner of the TAG Heuer Carrera Challenge, the exclusive championship for the Elite Class drivers. While Twigg was not towards the front of the Elite Class on the Gold Coast, he was still able to secure the class title – his third consecutive in the Porsche championship from Flack and Gold Coast winner Smollen.

“I never thought I would be able to win three Elite Class championships to take out the TAG Heuer Carrera Challenge. The season was so close, especially after the way Winton and the final weekend panned out for me,” said Twigg.

Paying homeage to TAG Heuer’s DNA in motor racing, the season finale saw Max Twigg and Nick Percat claim the TAG Heuer Fastest Lap Awards for the elite and professional classes respectively. Both were awarded the new TAG Heuer Carrera 1887 41mm Chronograph.

General Manager of TAG Heuer Australia, Philip Richards, sees the partnership as the perfect platform for TAG Heuer and Porsche Cars Australia to promote their shared brand values.

“Motorsport is in TAG Heuer’s DNA,” said Richards. “Right from the start TAG Heuer has kept level with every breakthrough in automobile speed, precision and design. It is this rich history in motor racing together with our strong association with Porsche over the decades that makes this partnership the perfect fit.”

The Gold Coast round was the final round that the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (Type 997) was eligible for Carrera Cup competition in Australia.

TAG Heuer looks forward to welcoming the 2014 season where the impressive new Type 991 model GT3 Cup will be introduced, giving a fresh look to an exciting new Porsche championship.
